Common use

Dosage and direction

Adults: Typical dosage ranges from 250-500 mg every 6 hours or 500-1000 mg every 12 hours, depending on formulation and infection severity. For severe infections: 1-2 grams daily in divided doses. Children: 30-50 mg/kg/day in divided doses. Take on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals) for optimal absorption, unless using enteric-coated tablets.
